Southington Library and Museum offers a wide variety of services and materials that are accessible every day of the week 24 hours a day. You will need your Southington Library card to access most of these.

Hoopla: Movies, TV shows, Music and Audiobooks

Overdrive  eBooks, Audiobooks and Streaming Video. If you are new to our downloadable books you will have to establish and account. Call the Library at (860) 628-0947 ext. 123 for assistance.

Universal Class Online Courses: Universal Class overs over 500 individual, high level courses featuring live instructors subjects range from state-of-the-art computer courses to Baby-sitting 101. CEUs are available for many of these courses.

Transparent Language Foreign Language Instruction: Over 80 foreign languages are available including English as a second language.

JobNow: Experienced personalized career center seamlessly integrated with advanced virtual technology to help job seekers of diverse backgrounds and needs.

Auto Repair Reference Center: A very handy tool with lots of information. You first go to Ebsco then choose Auto Repair Reference Center and start working on your car.

TumbleBooks: Read books online with children. Many elementary school teachers use this in their classes.

ReferenceUSA – This is a powerful consumer and business research resource that provides access to information about 20 million business and over 200 million consumers.

Learning Express Library 3.0 – Over 1,000 online practice tests and interactive skill-building tutorials are available including practice for the GED, SAT, GRE, LSAT and many, many more.

Health and Wellness Resource Center –  Our newest database offers 24/7 access to thousands of full-text medical journals, magazines, newspapers, reference works, multimedia and much more.

Health Reference Center Academic – This database provides access to articles on fitness, pregnancy, medicine, nutrition, diseases, public health, occupational health and safety, alcohol and drug abuse, HMOs, prescription drugs, etc.

iConn – Connecticut’s premier search engine. It includes Infotrac, Student Research Center, Medline and more

Ebsco from home   Ebsco from the Library – History, Science and Literary Resources Centers plus the Greenfile environmental database. Ebsco provides easy access to Novelist and Auto Repair Reference Center.

Ancestry.com – This  popular and helpful genealogy site is available for in-library use only. For genealogy web sites you can access from home click on the Genealogy Links tab above.

Proquest Historical Newspapers – Full text and image newspapers dating back to the 19th century.

iConn – Connecticut’s premier search engine. It includes Infotrac, Student Research Center, Medline and more.

KidsInfo– Search tools and more for elementary students.

Captain Andrew Upson’s Civil War Letters: These letters are from the collection at the Barnes Museum and follow Captain Upson’s Civil War experience from his first night in camp to his death following an ambush in Tennessee. They are beautifully written.

Historic Southington Newspapers: A very large collection of Southington’s historic newspapers including The Observer, The Phoenix and The Southington News.
